Patricia's composition!

Should students be punished for not attending school?

I have seen lot, LOT of students behaving very badly in the schools that I have been. Mainly, I’m talking about the ESO.
But, what the teachers can do? Nothing. They only can speak to them trying to stop their behavior. They can punish them, but, normally, the students ignore them. Then the child, will grow up without any type of limit in the school, and he will never pay attention if he don’t want to. In this life you must will have to do lot of things that you won’t like, and if we grow up without this thought in our minds…. Well.
I think that sometimes the pupils often go over the top by disrespecting the teachers. I remember a teacher from my old school, my ESO School, that left school because of the bad behaviour of the class… She never could make the class, the pupils were always talking, throwing things trough the air, paper balls, pencils, rubbers… She screamed, she spoke loudly and seriously, but the pupils, ignored her.
When my father was a child, the teachers punished them lot of times, the teachers hit him too. But, thanks to that, he never had a bad behavior there, and he learned, from he was a child, that there are things that you can’t do in the school. And the teachers could make the class ever they want.
I’m not saying that now we have to start punishing with hits each boy that behaves badly. If we started to do this, maybe the students would end up repressed by the continuous hits and punishments at school. Now this facts in our society, could be a scandal.
But we can make ruder punishments than the current ones. For example, taking away many points from an exam every time a rule was broken.

But, we all know that punish the pupils to force them to learn… it’s not ever the best thing for education.
I think that the problem also could be in the way of giving classes. At my old school, the pupils paid no attention to lot of teachers except one. One who gave all from himself in the class, one who live his classes and his lessons. The pupils where, all of them, paying attention and in silence.
Maybe the teachers could learn new ways to explain her classes, making contests, competitions, making them more entertaining.

In conclusion. The teachers could try new ways to punish her students, but this teachers also have to collaborate so that they don’t behave badly, therefore not having to punish them.

Hi Patri! I agree with your apinion about the most of the current students, the majority of them seems be in heat.
Well, another topic that I want to talk about is the methodology in teacher's classes. Not all the people know how do a class more interesting but I think that we can make an effort and listen in the class although it's being very boring.

I think that people should know what they have to do..I mean...why teachers have to punish the pupils in the BAT? It is voluntarie, and you're paying for be in class and listening the classes if you want to listen...

Ok, there are some rules, but if you don't disturb no one...what the...you are paying for that, and you've 18 years dude...I think people at this age knows what they're doing...

Another thing that I hate is the assistence in classes...I think it should be like te University...you can assist the classes that you want and go home when you want...

Four hundred and thirty-one words!! Oh my God! I hope you don't do that in your EOI exams! ;-)
Nice text, Patricia... though I'm afraid it's not a for and against essay... Where are the arguments for and against??
Your text can be understood quite easily, congratulations! Just a couple of things...
- It's LOTS OF or A LOT OF, but not *lot of...
- Be careful with word order... Can you see what's wrong in these two sentences? what the teachers can do? , They only can speak to them...
- Some parts of your text are very informal (Eg ... Well.) It's seems you are giving your opinion to a friend!
- The final paragraph has a strange beginning, doesn't it?
You are very fluent, next step is to focus on the correct format!

Roser

PS I wonder how that good teacher you had in your secondary school managed to get the whole class' attention! :-)

To Susana:

If you want to be in bat, you have to follow the rules, and accept the attitude of the teachers if they want to punish you. If you don't want to accept it, or be punished, don't go to the Bat, because it's voluntarie.

Susana and Co., what do you understand by "disturbing"? I agree that BAT is not compulsory, but there are certain codes of behaviour that should be followed. And if attendance is a must, it's because it's the best way to learn... (I'm sorry to disappoint you, but even at University certain courses require regular attendance!)
If you skip classes very often, it will be impossible to follow the lesson, and then doubts may come, you may lose the interest in what the teacher says, and eventually you might start chatting with your classmates...
Does it ring a bell?
